Scrap It Girl {Favorite Thing Friday: Mini Albums}

Today is Friday! Everyone have big plans for the weekend? It's also time for Favorite Thing Friday with Scrap It Girl! Today we are sharing our favorite mini album. Mine, is one I did a few years back for my dear father in law.
This mini album is one from Stampin' Up! (don't even know if they still carry it) I loved how it has a little sleeve to go into. Here's a few close ups of some of the pages.

Make sure to head over to Scrap It Girl and see what the design team members have done. While you're there, share with us your favorite mini album you've done. Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

Scrap It Girl {Favorite Thing Friday: Embellishment(s)}

Happy Friday! Hope everyone has some fun plans for the weekend! It being Friday it's also time for Favorite Thing Friday over at Scrap It Girl! Today we are covering Embellishments! Yeah! I am a huge embellie fan. It was so hard narrowing it down to just one favorite embellishment but I decided to go with the one I've been playing with the most lately. Can you guess what it is? Ok, ok, I'll tell you! My favorite embellishment at the moment are..... SEQUINS! I love the added bling!
I was very hesitant and actually not sure how to use these little lovelies at first. Now I reach for them all the time! I believe they add just that little extra "wow!" that I'm usually looking for. LOVE them! Here's a quick, cute card I put together to show you how cute and easy they are to use!
I used a gel pen to make the little faux stitches around the edges. I then found a cute little cloud in my Stampin' Up! By Air stamp set. It's actually a solid stamp so I used a marker to just color the edges, then fussy cut it and used 3D- Foam dots to pop it up. The sequins I just kind eyeballed it for the rainbow. I love how cute it turned out. Then for the final touch I stamped the sentiment from Stampin' Up! Small Sayings stamp set with some Tim Holtz Pumice Stone Ink.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to share with us your favorite embellishments over at Scrap It Girl. I love the embellishments the other Design Team members shared! Totally awesome!

Cutie Pie with Nuts About Sketches

Nuts About Sketch new sketch is up!
These pictures of my 2nd daughters little 3rd grade class play they put together, Goldilocks & the 3 Bullfrogs. It was fun to go watch and see them perform. I used a Stampin' Up! stamp set called Unfroggetable that I think has the cutest frogs ever and then did some "fussy" cutting of the images and popped them up with 3D-Dots. The blue stripey sides are washi tape. It really was a quick and simple layout to put together.
You should go see all the other fun layouts created by the rest of the design team!

Crafting with DCWV

I haven't been doing much in the way of paper crafting lately. But today I thought I would attempt a project I've been having rolling around in my head for a while. Ever get those? You just finally have to do them to get them out!
My oldest daughter has really been into doing origami lately and taught me how to make the cutest little "balls"! It was so much fun just spending the afternoon having her teach me how to make them! The fun part is they can be made into several different sizes! We made some big ones using DCWV A Type of Art Stack 12x12 sheets. LOVE how some of the pages had embossed images! So much fun to feel the different textures and even be able to see it when up close. We hung a few of these big ones in her room! Such a cute decoration! We also made some smaller ones by cutting down a 12x12 sheet to 6x6's. I thought they would look adorable in my front room! Don't you agree? Did you notice the cute vase? Want to know a secret? I used some Recollections crafting (washi) tape around the top! I'm serious! Now I can customize my vase to match... well, whatever I want! Haha!

Supplies Used: DCWV A Type of Art Stack, DCWV The Stack III, DCWV "Quote Stacks"- Home & Family, Recollections Crafting Tape, Stampin' Up! hardware & Bakers Twine

Halloween Decor

I've had this one for awhile but absolutely LOVE it! I love Halloween but really don't have much in the way of decorations. I can't ever find stuff at the store that I REALLY love, they always seem kind of cheesy to me. But I do have a stamp set that I LOVE and thought it would be perfect to make something with that! So I ran to the Dollar Store (love it there!) and bought a frame and then came home and starting putting things together. I stamped out the images, picked out some great Halloween paper to go with it and Ta-da! We have a cool Halloween decoration! Of course I couldn't stop there, I had to drill some holes in the frame to do wire through them and hang it up! Simple, fast and easy! Love projects that go that work out that well.

A Gift

Adara received a Baptism invite for one of her good friends so we decided to make her a cute little gift for her to give her. I found an empty box that I had from some re-inkers and decorated it up and filled it up with Tootsie rolls. Then we covered a Mini composition notebook to match it. Hoping she liked it! :)

Name Frames

I made these cute little picture frames awhile back for my girls. I tried to personalize each one to there tastes or personality. My girls LOVED them! They were really easy to make. I just bought some frames at Walmart and cut out some cardstock for the background to fit in the frame. I used cardstock, rubber stamps, ribbon, brads and ink to create my frames.

Menu Planner

I've made a Menu Planner to go along with my cute Recipe Book. I've made several of these before also and absolutely love it! When I actually incorporate it. It's very useful. I added some velcro to keep it closed, a previous one that I had made I had added some stretchy cord to go around it. I also added some extra pockets, who doesn't need extra pockets! I figured this way I can carry, extra notes, recipes, coupons, etc. You can really make it your own way. One of the other ones I've made had a spot for a small sticky note pad, a little pocket that held paper markers to hold your place in cook books and a big pocket to hold recipes.

I have templates if you want to give it a try. :)

Herbs

I love cooking with fresh herbs but hate buying them at the grocery store because the bundles they come in are always bigger than I want. Why buy so much when it's just going to go to waste? Well I decided it was time to plant my own! Yeah! I will now have (if they'll grow) Cilantro, Spearmint, Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano, Chives, Parsley & Basil!

For the little individual pots I just made some little tags so I knew what was in them for now. So easy with some scraps of cardstock & punches!

Recipe Book

So I've been working on this recipe book for a while now. Not that it is hard or anything it's been more that I keep running out supplies and it just felt like one thing or another popped up and kept me away from completing it. But it is finally done! I started out with a blank Art Journal from Stampin' Up! When you order one what you get is a plain art journal, it has grey chipboard cover covers and plain white pages (no lines, no anything). I love it this way because it allows me to be able to decorate it anyway I wish to. I'm posting the pictures up in a slide because I wanted to post quite few of them to mainly show some of the details on the book...

I should also add that idea is not entirely my own. :) I got the idea from this other stamper's Blog: Stamps, Paper, Scissors She used a smaller book, and I've done several (like 4-5) of this size but I wanted something bigger for myself so I played around a bit. :)

Mother's Day Album

For Mother's Day I made my Mother-in-Law a 6x6 album. We went down to Richmond on Friday and I had my little sister take some family pictures of us. It had been awhile since we had done some family pictures. It was actually quite fun taking the pictures, but it did get a bit chilly. Here's the album I made [Now I do have to apologize for the quality of the pictures of the album. I completely forgot to take pictures before we left and when I realized that I hadn't was in a big hurry right before I gave it away. :) Terribly sorry] :

There are two little poems I added to the album also:
on p19
"Ten Little fingers, Ten Little toes..."
Ten tiny toes that always want to play That never stop exploring the wonder of today. Ten tiny fingers that from the very start Will reach out for tomorrow, yet always hold your heart.
p23
"Little Girls..."
By Karen Barnes

Little girls are made of daisies and butterflies and soft kitty cat purrs
And all the precious memories of times that once were.
Little girls are made of angel's wings and giggles and a firefly's glow
And all the happy feelings, deep inside, that we all know.
Little girls are made of cinnamon and bubbles and fancy white pearls
and snowflakes and rainbows and ballerina twirls.
Little girls are made of sunshine and cupckaes and fresh morning dew,
And these are the reasons, little one, why everyone loves you.

FINALLY.... The Album!! Yeah!

Well I finally got pictures of the album I had told you about that I had made for my brother, Luis, to give to his girlfriend, Vanessa. Who is now his wife!! It has been a long time since I last posted!! I always say that I know but WOW! It seems like I every time I post more and more time lapses between posts and the worst part is I keep swearing I'm going to update more frequently!! I just need to get on a schedule. ;)

Alright, the album I used was a Stampin' Up! 6x6 Black Leather I loved that I was able to directly stamp on it! I used White StazOn on it and it doesn't come off! Even when wiped! The pictures are mostly of ones I took of them here at my house the rest are ones they have taken themselves

Making Changes...

Well hello! I know I've been horrible at updating....why does life feel like it can get in the way all the time!!?? The very nerve! LOL Anyway, I've decided to make a few changes to my blog. First of all I've changed the look a little. Second it will still primarily be a place for me to post my crafts and stamping but I will begin including a little more about my family and third of all I REALLY hope to be able to post more regularly.

Well since it has been so long since I have posted anything I will share a quick card that I made last fall. I really fell in love with the new In Color Purely Pomegranate from Stampin' Up!

I hope everyone's new year has so far been good!

More Frames...

I thought I would share some frames that I made a while ago. These frames were made for a show that I had a booth at, I had to demonstrate a project on stage and decided I would show how to use stamping in your home decor. I actually only demonstrated this one, "Hope". I found the frame at Walmart, printed the word "Hope" on vellum off of my printer. It was actually a very fast and easy frame to make, I think the most time consuming was cutting out the Monogram H which "Imagine".actually only took me about 5 minutes. I then came home and decided I wanted to hang it in my scrap room but I wanted some more to go along with it so I made one that said "Dream" and this other one that says I couldn't believe how easy they were! And how much fun I had making them. It did take me a while to come up with what exactly I wanted but once I got going it was super easy!

Name Frames

I have been working on name frames for my daughters. I finished Adara's way back but finally got around to doing Senedra's now I've got one more to do! Yeah! They have actually been a lot of fun to work on and just let my imagination roam with them. I pick out a stamp set that best suits their personality and let them pick one color and then I just go from there. I never really have a plan when I begin. But I overall I really liked the final outcome!

On this one I wheeling the Flitting By Jumbo wheel across the Perfect Plum to create a background I then cut out Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and the Confetti White Cardstock to layer over each other. I also used the Color Spritzer with a Perfect Plum Marker to spritz over the entire thing once I was done.

All Supplies from Stampin' Up!:
Stamps:
Bold Butterfly Stamp set & Flitting By Jumbo Wheel
Paper: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, & Confetti White Card stock
Ink:
Perfect Plum, Pale Plum
Other:
Silver Brads, Narrow White Grosgrain, Narrow Eggplant Grosgrain, White Organdy Ribbon, & Black Frame from Walmart

This one I really had fun with! I think in doing the first name frame I was feeling a bit intimidated but after seeing how easy it was to make one I really just had fun with this one! I used these fun animals on this one because my daughter abs
olutely loves animals. So I stamped them and then cut them out and used an exacto knife to cut around the elephants ear and the lions head so I could put them thru the letters. The two Flower brads that are on here I have no idea where I got them.....I am a horder! There I've said it! LOL Now that, that is in the open I've had them for years and just kept them for the "perfect" project, I'm sure many of you can relate to that! Anyway, I used the White Gel pen from SU! to make middles on the flowers...can I just say I LOVE that pen it works so well all the time!

Confessions....

Alright, alright! I confess! I've been holed up in my scrap room DEVOURING my new Stampin' Up! Catalog!! YES! I got my 2 boxes earlier this week and I have not wanted to put it down since I got it!! Once you get a glimpse of this catalog and if you have the whole "demonstrator/stamping" sickness you'll see why! It is....Beautiful. The cover, the stamps....oh, the accessories! I'm trying not to drool on my keyboard as I'm telling you all of this! LOL Ok, so you can tell I've got the "sickness" bad! I really do think this is one of Stampin' Up!'s best catalogs yet. I feel like they are truly in touch with the market on this one. If you haven't seen one PLEASE get a hold of a demonstrator, quickly!!

Well, since now you know the REAL truth of why I haven't been stamping I'll show you a scrapbook page I did a while ago. On this page I used a 12x12 sheet of Pretty in Pink card stock and I wheeled the Petals Wheel (found in the Spring Mini) with Pretty in Pink ink across the bottom. The "Happy Together" is from the Double sided Petals & Paisleys Designer Paper. The three little flowers and the little saying "find joy in the little things" are from the stamp set Polka Dots & Paisley. On the flowers I stamped them with Versa Mark then used daubers & chalks to color them.

All Supplies from Stampin' Up!:
Stamps: Polka Dots & Paisley & Jumbo Petals Wheel
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White & Tempting Turquoise Card stock

Ink: Versa Mark & Tempting Turquoise

Other: Silver Brads, Narrow Light Pink & White Organdy Ribbon

I don't scrap book very much, I will get a page done here and there as I need them for samples. It's not that I don't enjoy doing them but that I never feel that they turn out "cute" enough. Oh, well. Although I was quite pleased with this one. My husband, Jeremy, is holding our youngest daughter Arell Lynn and cuddling a little bit with her. She was about 3 months old in that picture and now she is about to turn 9 months!!! Where does the time go!

Another Blogger Bingo Card

Alright, I told you a few days ago that I had joined a Bloggers Bingo Game over at Poetic Artistry.
Well here is my 2nd attempt at the card challenge. I used Real Red as my card base , then I stamped the cake from a BRAND NEW stamp set out of the Preview Brochure called "Year after Year". I used a blender pen to pick up some sliver ink from my Silver Encore pad to color the platter stand, a Real Red Marker for the heart and added a bit of Dazzling Diamonds around he edges. I used the sentiment from another stamp set that was in the Preview Brochure, "Hugs & Wishes". I added a little flower and a silver brad to the corner of the sentiment and adhered it using a dimensional. I then used the Silver Encore pad to ink up French Flair stamp that was in one of Stampin' Up!'s minis a few months ago, I really hope it makes it into the new catalog.

All Supplies from Stampin' Up!:
Stamps: Year after Year, Hugs & Wishes, & French Flair
Paper: Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, & Brushed Silver Card stock

Taking the Challenge

Last night I thought it was about time to break into my Baroque Motifs Stamp. I've had it for a few weeks now and still hadn't played with it!! I loved this stamp set when I first saw it in SU! Preview Brochure, I love swirly's! Now the REAL reason for making this card was because as I was stalking my favorite blogs last night I went to Shadowcatchers (she has such an awesome blog!!) and saw that she was doing "Bloggers Bingo" well who can pass up Bingo and she has some cool Blog Candy for the winners! Along with this cool game she has a sketch challenge for anyone that wants to participate! So I figured it was great way to really push myself to make a card on my own instead of C.A.S.E.-ing one. So besides challenging myself with the sketch I thought I would really push myself to use the new "In colors". So the main card is Purely Pomegranate, with Wild Wasabi, River Rock and the Designer Paper that matches the Stamp set Baroque Motifs. I'm not quite sure if I like it or not. What do you think??

Editing to add that the overlapping of the swirly's was something I saw on Stamping & Stuff I loved the effect that I had to try it!!
