Nuts About Sketches {Silly Faces}

Good morning! Nuts About Sketches new sketch is up and it's a fun one!
This is my youngest daughter playing in the tub when she was about 8 months old. She has always been one to pull the funniest faces! I love them!
I cut down my designer paper by 1/2" on the side and top so it would give me a 1/4" cardstock frame all around. Lately, this has been my go to. Love the look of it. I then did a bit of ripping for the side pieces up on the top right and on the left side. Did you know that if you tear AWAY from you the core of the paper will be visible on the back side but if you tear TOWARDS you the core is visible on the front. Just a little tearing tid bit. ;)

I went around and inked up the the edges with some Tim Holtz Pumice Stone Distress Ink and traced the edges of the SILLY in my title with black pen to make it "pop" a little.

I also did a little of bit of stitching on this layout. Love adding just little bits for texture on my layouts.
Here's a couple more close up of some the fun embellishments.

Nuts About Sketches {Made from Scratch!}

Good morning! How was your weekend? I had a great scrappy weekend and have got some fun layouts done. This one I did using this Nuts About Sketches sketch. I chose to only do the left side of the sketch, Yes! You can totally do that! ;)
As I dug through some old pictures I found some that would work perfectly with this sketch. They are pictures of one of my youngest sisters with my youngest daughter baking up a batch of No Bake Cookies. Although, I think there was a whole lot more tasting than actual baking! lol
I used one of Moxxie's lines called Bake Shoppe. Love the cute double sided punch out embellishments and the cardstock stickers that coordinate with this line. I sponged on some Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink around the edges of all my paper and on the embellishments.

I created this banner from some of the other papers in this line and strung it with some baker's twine.
Make sure you visit Nut's About Sketches blog and check out some more amazing samples the DT members created using that this same sketch!

Nuts About Sketches {Together, Me & My Sister}

Good morning! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Did you get any crafting done? I put together a fun layout using Nuts About Sketches sketch. I love Shawn's sketches! They are always so much fun and so easy to read. Make sure to swing by her blog and take a look around, she has her past sketches organized by the number of pictures on a sketch. :) Here's this week's sketch...
I rotated the sketch counter clockwise to make it work with the photos I had on hand. Don't be afraid to change things up a bit to make it work for you. :)
These two became great friends from day one! I love how well they usually got along, they are sisters after all! ;) I used Scraptastic Club kit April 2014 Worth Wondering on this layout. I started out with the chevron sheet and inked around the edges using Tim Holtz Distressing Ink Pumice Stone and did ink spots all over
I also did some inking around the wood veneer.
I love the cork butterflies, they are just so cute!
Make sure to head over to Nuts About Sketches for more inspiration on this awesome sketch!

Nuts About Sketches {Autonomous Solutions Family Day}

Today I want to share with you another two page layout I did with Nuts About Sketches newest sketch.
I love these pictures! My husbands employer, Autonomous Solutions, has a family day so that all the families can go and see what all the employees have been hard at work on. The best part is that they actually let the kids play around with some of the robots (with supervision of course), they absolutely love it! Here my girls are having a ball running one around with my husband. I used a Scraptastic Kit called Chasing Pavements. On this layout I finally broke out my gelatos! I shaved off some of the white gelato into a small bowel and added a tiny bit of water then mixed it until the gelato had dissolved. Then I dipped my finger in the liquid and let it drip off my finger onto the page and splattered it around the page a bit.
I really loved playing with the gelatos. I cut out the title on my Silhouette and hand cut the banners and strung them with some twine and did a bit of inking around the edges with some Tim Holtz Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

Make sure to stop by Nuts About Sketches to check out the sketch and the rest of design teams take on it! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Rock Haus with Nuts About Sketches

Happy Monday! Ya, I know, trust me I don't say that very often but I'm really excited to share this layout with you today! So it is definitely a happy Monday! ;) I used Nuts About Sketches newest sketch. Another great one! I don't usually do two page layouts, but I really had fun with this one! Make sure to go over to their blog to check out. :)

 Here's my layout! My sister and her boyfriend took my 3 girls the a rock climbing facility for the first time. At first the girls were really hesitant and not too sure they really wanted to do it. But it didn't take them long to get talked into climbing the walls! They LOVED it!!! It was so fun to watch them learn so much and so quickly!

I used a kit I bought from Scraptastic Club- Mr. Big Stuff Add on. I love all the fun bright colors in this kit. I wanted some really fun accents for this page though and I couldn't find much in my stash. I also started looking around the Silhouette store for some ideas and came across that cute little rock climber and inked the cut out a little bit, perfect!
Now for my FAVORITE part! I made my own little rock climbing holds using liquid pears! They were so easy and pure genius if I do say so myself! ;) I printed out a picture of some holds then I placed a sheet of acetate over it.
In the first frame I'm outlining a shape with some liquid pearls. Then in the second frame I dropped in a white eyelet to look like the screw that the real ones have. In the third frame I'm just filling in a little bit more around the eyelet with some more liquid pearls. Then for the worst part of this whole process..... drying time! I left them out in a safe (so no kids would touch it) place until the next morning. They were dry and pulled off rather easily but peel off gently just in case. I then attached them to my layout with some mini glue dots.
Don't they look amazing!? I love how well they turned out. Then for the title I found some left over pieces of chipboard alphabets.
Well that's it for today! Make sure to head over to Nuts About Sketches so you can check out the sketch and the rest of design teams take on it! There's always some great inspiration there! Thanks for stopping by!

Real Salt Lake with Nuts About Sketches

How was everyone's weekend? Hopefully it was a great one! We had some gorgeous weather in my neck of the woods! How was it your way?

Today's layout was done with a sketch from Nuts About Sketches. I love her sketches! They are easy to work with and I love that they encourage me to use other shapes on my pictures than the normal rectangular shape of pictures!
I love these pictures! My oldest daughter's rec soccer team Coach (she was AWESOME) took the whole team at the end of their soccer season to watch Real Salt Lake in action! Talk about a cool way to end their soccer season! Even better was that my daughter had her best friend on the team and they were able to go together! My hubby & I had the chance to go with them and had a great time with the kids! :)
I wanted to do something fun with this layout and I had a Moxxie Soccer kit I've been itching to use! I used a sheet from the kit to be my background. Isn't that soccer ball print awesome!? I love it! I cut out the title on my Silhouette Cameo.
I also cut a circle out of the paper and then layered with a bit of vellum to do my journalling on and tucked in tickets from the game behind my journaling.
Along the top I cut out strips of 1"x1 1/2" and then layered them by 1/2" and spritzed some Heidi Swapp Teal Color Shine on it. I also distressed the inner edges of the blue to just provide a bit of texture.
Loved creating this layout! See how cute those pictures look cut into circle!? Are you comfortable cutting your pictures into other shapes?
Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to head over to Nuts About Sketches and check out the other layouts created with the sketch!

Creating with Nuts About Sketches

I LOVE that my girls love to get crafty! This is my youngest and she loves to scrapbook! It's so much fun being able to have the same interests as the little ones. :) For this layout I used a new NAS sketch. I did quite a bit of inking and layering with this layout. I also cut out the title with my Silhouette. :)
Go check out the new sketch and all the design teams take on the new sketch! Don't miss it!

Super Great Day with Nuts About Sketches

Hello! How was everyone's weekend? Hope it was great one! Today I've got a new NAS reveal.
Isn't that an awesome sketch!? I love how easy her sketches are to work with! If you are just starting out scrapbooking or dipping your feet into the "sketch" world I think NAS are a great place to start!
I found a picture I had forgotten about but absolutely adored! I took this one about 2 years ago right beside our house. The wheat had just been cut and I loved the "gold-ish" background it provided. Love these peeps. :) I used MME (My Mind's Eye) Kraft-funday kit (who knows how long I'd been hoarding that one!) and even ended up using some of the packaging! Can you spot it? Hehe, I'm super sneaky that way, it was my journaling card!
As you can see here... It was the packaging from the wood banners in my kit. I just removed them all and stored them in a smaller baggie so I could steal their packaging. I cut off the top and slid it in behind my pic and did my journaling. :)
I also used a hexagon punch to punch out my cute little hexagons and I popped a few of them up with 3D Dots. Love those! They add some great dimension to a page.

Don't forget to head over to Nuts About Sketches and check out all the other Design Team members layouts! We have such great variety and some amazing layouts! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Exciting News & Nuts About Sketches

I have some more exciting news! I've joined Nuts About Sketches (NAS) Design Team! I'm so excited to be part of this team! I have nothing but pure love for Shawn's sketches. The are awesome to work with! Go check out the new team and all the great layouts!

Here's my first sketch as a Design Team member...
I LOVED this sketch! It was so much fun to play with! I used the sketch exactly as it was and used a my Scraptastic Club Blackbird Oct. 2013 Kit . This kit has so much fun Halloween-y stuff!
I used the sheet of paper that had words all over it as my base and then layered the spiderweb & bat one on top. I did a bit of ripping along the edges. I then used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink- Vintage Photo to ink up the edges. I love the look of inked edges. Don't you? I also used some Stickles to outline the my title label. I just wanted to draw a little attention it's way and what better way to do it than with a little glitter bling. ;)
I then accordioned my banner strip just to add a bit of texture and had some fun inking it up with a sponge so I could make sure to get those edges well.
Another little "extra" that I did with my page was to bend down some corners. I have to admit that the first one was an accident but I decided to just go with it and loved the little "extra touch" it added. Love having the other side of the paper showing even if it is just a tiny bit. Have you ever had an oopsie on your page and then just incorporated it?
And my favorite part are the little spiders! Aren't they cute!? They are wood veneers that I just added some ink directly on it to color it and left it to dry for a few minutes. I loved how well and easy everything came together.

Now go over to NAS and check out the new design team and their awesome takes on the sketch HERE! :) Thanks for stopping by!

Scrap It Girl March Challenge: Birthday's!

Happy Birthday to everyone in March! Especially to two of my fellow DT members over at Scrap it Girl! Huge Birthday shout out to

This months challenge at Scrap It Girl is going to be Birthday's! So I went and found some cute pictures of my youngest's birthday last year. She is so into La-la Loopsy dolls right now so of course we HAD to have a La-la Loopsy cake!
For this layout I went over to Nuts About Sketches and found a sketch that I loved and fit my two pictures perfectly! I used Sketch #242. I used a kit a I've had for quite awhile from KI Memories. I've used it on another birthday layout HERE. I'm really having a ton of fun with it! It has some fun shimmery papers in it and some really fun embellishments. I did the basic cutting but used my little circle cutter to get a the purple circle behind the title. Then my little "extra" that wasn't in the kit were these cute colored staples I've had for awhile and thought the colors were perfect for this layout!

Thanks for stopping by! Come and join me over at SCRAP IT GIRL for this fun challenge and great prize and to see what the other design team members have created! Always a ton of fun and inspiration! :) Hope to see you there!

Garter Snakes & a Birthday... Oh my!

LOVE using Nuts About Sketches (aka NAS) sketches! She has some really great ones! On this layout I used sketch # 181 from October 3, 2011 . I used an Echo Park kit that I had from a while back- Hello Summer by Lori Whitlock. I seriously love everything in it!

On this one layout I used another NAS #282 from September 9, 2013 it goes a ways back but it was perfect for these pictures! Going through my stash I found a kit I had purchased....hmmm... let's just say quite a while ago! ;) It had lots of from KI Memories papers embellies. It was great for these birthday pictures!
