Day of the Dead Gift Box

Hello! I've got another fun treat to share with you using the amazing line from Moxxie- Day of the Dead! I found a cute little box that I had acquired from my Stampin' Up! days and dressed it up a bit. 

Here's a close up. I did some layering, punching and distressing on it. Added some Imginisce jewels and added dimension by popping up the sugar skull with 3D foam dots. 

I can't wait to fill it with some goodies and gift it! Let me know in the comments what you think of Moxxie's Day of the Dead line.

 I haven't been doing much in the way of paper crafting lately. But today I thought I would attempt a project I've been having rolling around in my head for a while. Ever get those? You just finally have to do them to get them out!

My oldest daughter has really been into doing origami lately and taught me how to make the cutest little "balls"! It was so much fun just spending the afternoon having her teach me how to make them! The fun part is they can be made into several different sizes! We made some big ones using DCWV A Type of Art Stack 12x12 sheets. LOVE how some of the pages had embossed images! So much fun to feel the different textures and even be able to see it when up close. We hung a few of these big ones in her room! Such a cute decoration! We also made some smaller ones by cutting down a 12x12 sheet to 6x6's. I thought they would look adorable in my front room! Don't you agree? Did you notice the cute vase? Want to know a secret? I used some Recollections crafting (washi) tape around the top! I'm serious! Now I can customize my vase to match... well, whatever I want! Haha!

A Gift

Adara received a Baptism invite for one of her good friends so we decided to make her a cute little gift for her to give her. I found an empty box that I had from some re-inkers and decorated it up and filled it up with Tootsie rolls. Then we covered a Mini composition notebook to match it. Hoping she liked it! :)

Valentine Hearts

As I went to pull out decorations I realized I really didn't have much for Valentine's Day! I have 3 big totes for Christmas and nothing really for Valentine's Day! So I decided I would make some really quick but not too much. So I I got thinking why not make a vase with hearts!? I added some red, white and clear flat marbles to a vase and then used my Cuttlebug and embossed some paper which I then proceeded to cut into hearts. I then taped them to some wooden skewers :) They really didn't turn out to bad! :) You could add more and make it look more like a bouquet. I also cut some down so I would have different sizes. I hope everyone had a great Valentine's!

Scrapbook Page

The scrapbook store here in town had a little scrapbook contest in December. So I thought what they hey! I'll enter, who doesn't want a gift cert. to buy more stuff! :) So this is the page I did and entered. I received 2nd place on it! Not to shabby if I may say so myself! :) I really don't do much in the way of scrapbooking. I love it when I do it but for some reason I just never actually sit down and complete a book for me. I only do it for gifts or contests... I have a confession to make! I don't have a single scrapbook done for ANY of my kids!! I know horrible! It's on my many to do lists, maybe some day! :)

Hot Chocolate

My husband LOVES making his own hot chocolate! So for Christmas this year I made him a canister full of homemade hot chocolate mix for him so he didn't have to keep mix it up one mug at a time :)

Hot Chocolate Mix

Single Serving
1 Tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 Tbsp. Sugar
1/4 tsp. Vanilla or Vanilla powder
8 oz. milk

You will want to mix the cocoa & sugar (and powdered vanilla if you choose to use that) in a separate dish. *Heat milk up. Then mix powder mix with milk, stir well and ENJOY!

Canister
1 1/2 cups of Cocoa
2 cups of Sugar
6 tsp. of Powdered Vanilla
8 oz. Milk

Mix all ingredients well in a bowl then pour into empty canister. Then *heat up milk and use about 2 heaping tsp. of hot cocoa mix (more if you like your hot chocolate EXTRA chocolaty!) into your mug of milk. ENJOY!

*It's best to warm up the milk first and then add the mix. I feel that it dissolves much easier that way.

As for the can I used an old Stephen's hot chocolate canister, you can use anything with a lid. the Canister recipe above is to fill a Stepen's Hot Chocolate canister though (good way to recycle!) and peeled off the wrapper on it.



Then I measured out the width between the metal rims on top & bottom so I could cut my designer paper to size.



And then decorate and embellish to your taste! I printed off a little tag for my husbands and covered the outside with contact paper to protect the paper and tag from any spills or sticky hands ;)

Name Frames

I made these cute little picture frames awhile back for my girls. I tried to personalize each one to there tastes or personality. My girls LOVED them! They were really easy to make. I just bought some frames at Walmart and cut out some cardstock for the background to fit in the frame. I used cardstock, rubber stamps, ribbon, brads and ink to create my frames.

A Christmas Craft

This is something I made it a few years ago but never shared so given the season I thought I would share it with you now :)

I got the idea out of a magazine, can't even give proper credit since it's been so long. But just a fun little Christmas thing you can do with your family. I bought a little papier-mâché star, measured it and cut out some paper so it was slightly smaller then I hodge-podged it to the star.

Here's a magical Christmas Star
With a traditional old and true
May it bring you warmth and love
from our home to you.

Now everybody 'til Christmas
Find someone in your home
And secretly do a deed of love

Menu Planner

I've made a Menu Planner to go along with my cute Recipe Book. I've made several of these before also and absolutely love it! When I actually incorporate it. It's very useful. I added some velcro to keep it closed, a previous one that I had made I had added some stretchy cord to go around it. I also added some extra pockets, who doesn't need extra pockets! I figured this way I can carry, extra notes, recipes, coupons, etc. You can really make it your own way. One of the other ones I've made had a spot for a small sticky note pad, a little pocket that held paper markers to hold your place in cook books and a big pocket to hold recipes.

Herbs

I love cooking with fresh herbs but hate buying them at the grocery store because the bundles they come in are always bigger than I want. Why buy so much when it's just going to go to waste? Well I decided it was time to plant my own! Yeah! I will now have (if they'll grow) Cilantro, Spearmint, Rosemary, Thyme, Oregano, Chives, Parsley & Basil!

For the little individual pots I just made some little tags so I knew what was in them for now. So easy with some scraps of cardstock & punches!

Recipe Book

So I've been working on this recipe book for a while now. Not that it is hard or anything it's been more that I keep running out supplies and it just felt like one thing or another popped up and kept me away from completing it. But it is finally done! I started out with a blank Art Journal from Stampin' Up! When you order one what you get is a plain art journal, it has grey chipboard cover covers and plain white pages (no lines, no anything). I love it this way because it allows me to be able to decorate it anyway I wish to. I'm posting the pictures up in a slide because I wanted to post quite few of them to mainly show some of the details on the book...

I should also add that idea is not entirely my own. :) I got the idea from this other stamper's Blog: Stamps, Paper, Scissors She used a smaller book, and I've done several (like 4-5) of this size but I wanted something bigger for myself so I played around a bit. :)

More Frames...

I thought I would share some frames that I made a while ago. These frames were made for a show that I had a booth at, I had to demonstrate a project on stage and decided I would show how to use stamping in your home decor. I actually only demonstrated this one, "Hope". I found the frame at Walmart, printed the word "Hope" on vellum off of my printer. It was actually a very fast and easy frame to make, I think the most time consuming was cutting out the Monogram H which "Imagine".actually only took me about 5 minutes. I then came home and decided I wanted to hang it in my scrap room but I wanted some more to go along with it so I made one that said "Dream" and this other one that says I couldn't believe how easy they were! And how much fun I had making them. It did take me a while to come up with what exactly I wanted but once I got going it was super easy!

Name Frames

I have been working on name frames for my daughters. I finished Adara's way back but finally got around to doing Senedra's now I've got one more to do! Yeah! They have actually been a lot of fun to work on and just let my imagination roam with them. I pick out a stamp set that best suits their personality and let them pick one color and then I just go from there. I never really have a plan when I begin. But I overall I really liked the final outcome!

On this one I wheeling the Flitting By Jumbo wheel across the Perfect Plum to create a background I then cut out Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and the Confetti White Cardstock to layer over each other. I also used the Color Spritzer with a Perfect Plum Marker to spritz over the entire thing once I was done.

This one I really had fun with! I think in doing the first name frame I was feeling a bit intimidated but after seeing how easy it was to make one I really just had fun with this one! I used these fun animals on this one because my daughter absolutely loves animals. So I stamped them and then cut them out and used an exacto knife to cut around the elephants ear and the lions head so I could put them thru the letters. The two Flower brads that are on here I have no idea where I got them.....I am a horder! There I've said it! LOL Now that, that is in the open I've had them for years and just kept them for the "perfect" project, I'm sure many of you can relate to that! Anyway, I used the White Gel pen from SU! to make middles on the flowers...can I just say I LOVE that pen it works so well all the time!

Grandpas' Happy Birthday Gift

I had a goal, really I did!! My goal was that I would post to this blog everyday (at least REALLY try), if not at least every other day. And here it is Tuesday!! 5 days after my last post!! Where does the time go!!

Well let me share something with you that I made for my father-in-law for his birthday (we have the same birthday, June 12!!) . We have a tradition of always getting together and having pizza for our birthdays and this year our birthdays were in the middle of the week so we decided we would do something over the weekend and cover Father's day along with the celebration! It was a good weekend, we had pizza, presents, cooked out, and the boys went and played Golf. Anyway, getting back to what I made my Father-in-law...I love the way this turned out! I made him a little mini album of his 3 granddaughters!! I used the Stampin' Up! On Board Bitty Book and Simply Scrappin' Kit-At Home to create it. All Supplies from Stampin' Up!

Now off to plan Hostess Appreciation get together and a New Stampin' Up! Catalog Open House! I'm working on some really cute gifts for my Hostess Appreciation party, I'll post those as soon as I get them done!!

Big Clippies

How did we ever survive without computers before!? I went all weekend without internet because our providers router "blew up"!! I was feeling very deprived especially since I had JUST started this blog and then I couldn't do anything with it!

Well I did do SOMETHING this weekend with some of my new Stampin' Up! stuff!! I've been seeing the cutest bookmarks made from jumbo paper clips and decided I would give it a try...do you want to see them? I thought they turned out pretty cute! So here they are!

I traced the flower out on to the designer paper, cut it out and then covered the fronts of the flower chipboard with the pallet o' prints paper and then used the 3 flower punch (it is in the new Preview Brochure...it is AWESOME!! If you haven't looked at it you will definitely have to ask your demo or contact me to get one) to punch out a small flower for the middle that I mounted with dimensionals. Then I sanded down the edges and stuck a pop up glue dot onto the back and and used the
3/4 " to punch out a circle from some coasters that I have and covered it with So Saffron cardstock to stick it to the back of the flower. I've seen a lot of these made using the matching flower for the back too but I didn't want to use them up so fast so that is why I opted to use just a little circle for the back. Some of my favorite ones that I've seen are done by Cambria she always makes the cutest things!!
